Electrical interference artefact

Some electrical devices can produce a high frequency artefact on the ECG. This electrical interference can be so rapid that it just makes the baseline look very thickened, or you may be able to see lots of individual spikes.

ECG of the Week – 22rd January 2018 – Interpretation

This ECG is from a woman in her 70s who presented with a history of progressively worsening dyspnoea and peripheral oedema. Her past medical history included ischaemic heart disease and hypertension.
